The brief for the summer 2026 collection was a long trip with a small bag. The same logic applies to packing. Most people overpack swimwear because they are uncertain what they will need. A small, considered selection of pieces that work across different settings is more useful than a large selection of pieces that each work in only one.
Start with one versatile one-piece ¶
A one-piece swimsuit is the most versatile piece in a swimwear capsule. It works in the pool, at the beach, and, with the right cover-up, on the way to lunch. The Umi one-piece has a square neckline and thin straps that read as a bodysuit when worn with wide-leg trousers. The matte polyamide fabric does not look obviously like swimwear in a non-beach context, which extends its usefulness considerably.
Add a bikini for flexibility ¶
A bikini gives you options that a one-piece does not: you can mix the top and bottom with other pieces, adjust coverage, and pack the components separately. The Nami top and Tsuki brief are designed to work together but also to work independently. The Nami top can be worn as a crop top under an open shirt. The Tsuki brief, with its high waist and full coverage, works as a base layer under a sheer skirt.
One cover-up that does more than one thing ¶
The Yoru robe was added to the collection specifically because clients kept asking for something to wear over the Umi on the way to the pool. It is a cotton-linen robe with wide sleeves and deep pockets. It works as a cover-up, as a light layer on a cool evening, and, in a pinch, as a dressing gown. It packs flat and does not crease badly. This is the kind of piece that earns its weight in a bag.
What to leave behind ¶
Leave behind anything that requires special care in transit: heavily embellished pieces, delicate lace that will snag in a bag, anything that needs to be ironed before wearing. Travel swimwear should be resilient. The polyamide pieces in the Pulse Mind Wave Tech collection are designed to be rinsed in a hotel sink and dried overnight. The silk pieces are better suited to a destination where you have more control over storage and care.
